Oh wow! How in the world did we even get to this point? Here we stand on the 7-acre lot that we purchased in 2010!  Yes, you read that right!  2010! It’s hard to believe that soon we are breaking ground and one more step closer to a pipe dream I doubted many times would even happen!  It’s been a wonderful long journey!  Thirteen years ago when Scott and I got married and moved into our small, two bedrooms, cute brick ranch with no children in tow, the thought of building a dream home was literally light years away. Yes! It was something that was always on my mind since I was a little girl– something that was always a goal that Scott and I wanted to try to accomplish someday.   We all have dreams, but let’s face it if there’s one thing I’ve learned– life gets in the way.  It’s so easy to give up on those dreams or you put them on hold and many times dreams are just that… DREAMS!

Our process of getting to this point was definitely not an easy one, but one that will be worth it in the end! It was one that was planned over several years…so many years, I’ve lost count! Ha!  It was one that involved years of sacrifice and hard work. It was one that I honestly thought would never even come to fruition.  I’ll be the first person to tell you how fortunate, grateful, blessed, and lucky we are to even be able to get the point to build a dream home.

Well, if you would have told me I would be blogging about the house building process, I would have laughed in your face. HAHA! I am what you would call an introverted extrovert– and as I get older, I tend to find myself leaning on walls than being in the center of the room. I rarely share anything on social media and the thought of writing a blog and exposing many parts of my life was something I never dreamed I’d be doing.  Then, as I continued on with the journey towards building our dream home, I realized how much I leaned on other blogs, Instagram, and the internet to help me! And deep inside, one day I realized my faith was greater than my fear and I thought- why not?!? (This way of thinking only took 2+ years!) There were many answers I was unable to find for myself as I set out on this house building process and I’ve learned so much along the way that I really wanted to share it with you!
