It’s one of the most wonderful times of the year! Summer is finally here! The sun is finally in the sky for more than one random day at a time, and if you’re anything like me you are wishing for sand between your toes. ☀️ 🏖 The relaxing beach vacation you’ve always dreamed of is finally here! You show up at the beach with a stack of books in hand and leave with the same stack untouched in the suitcase…because you forgot for a moment that you’re the mother of three children that need constant care! 🤔 Oops… so much for that “relaxing vacation”. I’ve been there for years– I swear!
Imagine this scenario. It may sound familiar to you. Every June at the start of summer vacation, I would literally have a stack of books sitting at my bedside that I intended to read during June, July, and August. Then come September I’d look at the stack and realize they were untouched! For several years, a few books did move as they went in and out of the suitcase! Ha! Is it possible for books to feel sad? Because I mean the stack of amazing books just sat there crying for me! Pleaseeeeee readdddddd meeeeeeeeeeeee! Those books were so neglected it was pitiful! 📚
And just so you know…when I’m not at the beach…
I’ll be hiding downstairs in this tiny corner of my basement trying to read. How long will it take my kids to find me?
So… if you’ve made it this far in the post… you’re probably wondering WHY and HOW I have a goal to read TEN books this summer? Is it unrealistic? Gosh! I hope not! Ha! I’ve lived to tell you that I feel like those beach trips could finally start to get a bit “easier” for me. I’m currently feeling that I may just be able to read a little this summer in the midst of watching my kids play nicely in the backyard! Someone out there that is older and wiser please advise… is this JUST wishful thinking? For the record- my kids are now 12, 10, and 4.5 years years old. If you love to read and feel like you are caught in the trenches of motherhood, I do feel that you will have the time and opportunity to enjoy reading again soon– so don’t get too depressed seeing my summer reading list of ten books! I was just talking to my husband the other night, and I told him that since we’ve been raising our kids (for 12 years), I feel this is the FIRST summer that I may actually start and finish a book in the same month. It’s an amazing thought really, ha!
Look at me you lovely books…
and lie to me about how much I’m going to get done this summer!
So, without any further ado, I’m so excited to share my TOP TEN SUMMER BEACH READS with you! I’ve had several requests to share my summer reading list, and the time has finally come to reveal my list in its’ entirety!
